Surrealism in the Great Lakes” is a proposal stemming from the collaboration of Aissa Dione and Nelson Niyakire, who serve as the curators for this exhibition. The Atiss Dakar Gallery aims to foster a dialogue and bridge between West and East Africa through art. This exhibition invites us to explore a diverse and often overlooked artistic scene in the Great Lakes regions of Africa.
It takes us on a dreamlike journey through ancient beliefs that collide with the new myths of the modern world. It is a voyage into a twisted and fantasized intimacy that the artists encourage us to discover through each artwork, reflecting an ever-evolving questioning.
Conceived as a stroll through intersecting and observing psyches, this exhibition engages in a dialogue with an elusive purpose.
Among the featured artists are Senegalese talents Amadou Camara Gueye and Serigne Mbaye Camara, recognized for their significant contributions to the art landscape.
