From time to time Galerie Atiss Dakar offers a visual artist the space and support to create new work as part of an informal residency programme.
The residency is held in a 1970s modernist building set amidst a calm garden, located on the Corniche with views of Dakar’s dramatic coastline.
Residents are invited to draw inspiration from the city of Dakar, its wider surroundings, as well as the collaborative potential in the gallery’s connected lines of interests encompassing textiles and contemporary design.
The programme is informal and is awarded at the discretion of the gallery director to exceptional art practitioners to aid with their creative development and the production of new compelling work.
Artists that have taken part include:
Ngimbi Bakambana Luve, Moussa Traore, Oumar Ball, Patrick Joel Tatcheda, and Sadikou Oukpedjo
