«To be is to change by exchanging with the other while remaining oneself», «To open oneself to the unknown that is born from the encounter»,

Edouard Glissant

Born in 1953 in Paris (Fr) into a family of artists, Blaise Patrix trained off the beaten track. His work has been presented internationally (Caribbean, Africa, Europe, China, USA).

Nourished since adolescence by a continuous contact with the savoir-vivre of Africa, he feels particularly sensitive to the diversity of points of view. Curiosity, chance and intuition play an important role in his life.

His work explores the relational impact of recognition in all its aspects: recognition of oneself, of the other and of the common future, exploration, identification, gratification and gratitude, both in the studio and in public projects under the title of “Art Socia(B)le”.

“The future will depend on everyone” appeared on a fresco created in July 2022 in Kaya (Burkina Faso), in a spontaneous process of co-creation together with 140 people, mainly internally displaced persons who had fled from the regions of the country affected by terrorism.

After fifteen years of relative discretion, Blaise Patrix is once again actively presenting what he paints in his studio.
