NGIMBI BAKAMBANA LUVE

SOLO SHOW
THE FEDERAL PALACE
LAGOS

This November, West Africa’s premier international art fair ART X Lagos will return with a physical/digital hybrid event that celebrates artistic excellence from Africa and its Diaspora. The physical fair will be held from 4 – 7 November at The Federal Palace in Victoria Island, Lagos, while audiences around the world will be able to view works online from 4 – 21 November on ARTXLAGOS.COM and Artsy.

After 1-54 in London we are pleased to announce our participation with the solo show of Ngimbi Bakambana Luve in ART X LAGOS.

November 4th – November 07th 2021

Ngimbi Bakambana, African Woman, 2019, Acrylic on canvas, 200 cm x 160 cm

Ngimbi Bakambana’s paintings are a form of pictorial sociology of the SAPE (Society of Ambianceurs and Elegant People) culture centered on the two Congos and reminiscent of the Dandy and Rudeboy cultures found elsewhere. Sapology is a state of mind and a set of behaviors and attitudes rooted in urbanity and embodied in the «Kitendi religion», described as a religion of fabrics and fashions.
